The Parkersburg YMCA offers a wide variety of fitness classes to help you reach your fitness goal. All basic fitness classes are offered free to members. CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 13 MUST HAVE PERMISSION FROM THE HEALTH AND FITNESS DIRECTOR TO ATTEND CLASS.

CLASS RATINGS - Please use the following when determining which classes fit your current fitness level.
A = Beginners B = Intermediate C = Advanced

T-N-T (Tone and Trim)
Get back to basics! T-N-T is designed to improve flexibility and build muscular strength through a variety of floor exercises.

AEROFIT
Freestyle exercise that has been designed by the YMCA instructors that will challenge men and women! Low impact aerobics are included!

KICKSTEP
A fitness program that combines kickboxing and benching into a safe and effective program.

STEP
Choreographed “Stair Climbing” exercise that promotes cardiovascular fitness and lower body strength. Benches are provided.

YOGA
A class of yoga positions that create a calming and focusing effect on body, mind, and spirit. Yoga is a combination of deep breathing, stretch, and balance exercise that will enhance your total well-being.

STARTER YOGA
Same as the regular yoga, but designed for the person just getting started or those with special needs. Please bring a blanket or pillow for support.

ACTIVE OLDER ADULTS (AOA)
Stay active at any age with this low impact class. Workouts include cardio, strength training, exercise balls and Yoga. The exercises performed help develop and maintain muscular strength, endurance, balance and coordination.

INTERVAL TRAINING
A program that alternates aerobic segments with body sculpting intervals that target all major muscles in your body.

BODYPUMP
An original barbell class designed for all ages and fitness levels. BODYPUMP uses motivating music to deliver an athletic-based workout using barbells with adjustable weights to work every major muscle group in the body. This class is for YMCA members only.

STARTER FITNESS
Are you intimidated by aerobics? Do you feel a little too overweight to participate in classes or are you returning after a long absence? If so, this is the class for you! Join us in the privacy of our downstairs mini-gym for 30 minutes of uncomplicated and low intensity stepping and land aerobics, followed by 30 minutes of cool down, basic floor exercises and stretching.

PILATES
This fitness method focuses on improving the flexibility and strength for the entire body without adding bulk.  The exercises, done completely on the mat, create a sleek, toned physique while teaching body awareness, great posture and a strong body core.
