VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Embrace the YMCA Character Value of caring and join our team of Volunteers. What is a Volunteer? It is anyone who gives of their time and talent to the YMCA on a regular basis to foster growth in our membership and programs.

While serving as a Volunteer, you will learn about the YMCA’s history and mission as well as ways to intertwine our Character Values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility into your everyday lives. You will receive training necessary for your field of service so you will be completely equipped to meet any challenge set before you.

CHARITABLE CONTRIBUTIONS

The Parkersburg YMCA is a 501( c) (3) not-for-profit organization. Our operations depend on membership and program fees as well as contributions from outside sources. We offer one fundraising opportunity each year, our Friend of Youth Night at the Theater. This is hosted every fall and the generosity of our ticket purchasers enables us to offer programs and membership to youth who could not otherwise afford our services. To receive further information on Night at the Theater, please call 304-485-5585. If you are interested in attending, please notify us in September and October of each year. We would be honored to have you join us.

For Charitably Inclined Individuals...

Substantial tax savings and other important benefits are available through a variety of current and deferred gift endowment plans:

An outright gift (cash, securities)
creates current income tax savings and possible capital gains savings.

A Charitable Remainder Living Trust
provides a lifetime income to the donor or other person. Creates income tax savings in the year of the gift and possible additional capital gains, estate and fit tax savings.

Naming the YMCA in a Life Insurance Policy
makes possible a large future gift and possible current income tax savings.
A Bequest in One’s Will insures that assets one needs during life will not be dissipated yet makes possible a substantial charitable gift in memory of an individual. Creates estate and inheritance tax savings.

Memorial Gifts
a loved one can be remembered forever by the creation of a named memorial endowment fund. The fund may receive the contributions of many donors.

Contributions to our endowment are welcome any time of the year.

HERITAGE CLUB

The Heritage Club is an organization of those who have shown their long-term interest in and support of the YMCA of Parkersburg either by a direct contribution to the endowment fund or by including the YMCA in their estate plans. It is the commitment rather than the amount that is the basic factor in qualifying as a Heritage Club member. Each year these special friends of the Association are invited to a dinner and program to receive recognition, to hear how endowment funds are being used, and enjoy a relaxed informal social occasion.

Qualifications for Heritage Club Membership
An individual is qualified through any one of the following four methods:
1. An outright gift to the YMCA endowment fund of money, securities, property or other marketable assets.
2. Creation of a unitrust, annuity trust, gift annuity, pooled income fund, short-term trust or life estate program.
3. Naming the Parkersburg YMCA as the eventual recipient of life insurance.
4. Naming the Parkersburg YMCA to receive a bequest in one’s will.

An individual may direct his gift to the Association-at-large or to a specific branch. The Association’s legal name is the “Young Men’s Christian Association of Parkersburg”. Gifts may also be directed for a specific program or for the general purposes of the Association-at-large.
